Grand Strand Medical Center will reopen to patients at 8 am on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

Following the medical evacuation of Grand Strand Health ordered by Governor McMaster and DHEC, the hospital team along with its EMS and transport partners evacuated 317 patients within 48 hours from the hospital home or to 32 hospitals or healthcare facilities across South Carolina and the Southeastern states.

“We are grateful for our extraordinary team and for the partnership of the hundreds of EMS, medical transport and healthcare providers who stepped in to care for our patients when we were required to close by the Governor and DHEC for Hurricane Florence,” said CEO Mark Sims. “This is the healthcare community that we are proud to be a part of - one that ensures the best possible care for our patients even during the most difficult circumstances.”

In order to reopen Grand Strand’s Level 1 Trauma Center and critical care services, key physicians and staff were recalled Saturday and are making their way back to the community. In addition, systems are being brought back online and tested. All of this is designed to ensure that we can safely provide care upon reopening.
