Myrtle Beach, SC –Grand Strand Health is pleased to announce John M. Davis, MD, has been named the General Surgery Residency Program Director at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Dr. Davis joins Grand Strand Health from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, where he was a Professor of Surgery working closely with the residency program, and from Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune City, NJ, where he is an Attending Surgeon and Vice President of the Medical Executive Committee.
“Grand Strand Medical Center and its team - especially the surgeons - are extremely qualified and passionate about this new residency program. Only a handful of physicians in the country have had the chance to work on a new GME program. It is a rare, exceptional opportunity for me. I look forward to working with the team and welcoming our residents this summer,” states Dr. Davis.
He is a board certified General Surgeon, who completed his medical studies at Wayne State in Detroit, MI and his internship and residency at The NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. After completing a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, Dr. Davis returned as a teaching faculty member of the medical school. He served as President of the Faculty Council.
