Grand Strand Health introduces new behavioral health partial hospitalization program
Myrtle Beach, SC - Grand Strand Health is dedicated to expanding behavioral health services for adults in our area, which is why the Behavioral Health Unit at South Strand Medical Center is now offering an outpatient Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
The goal of the PHP is to empower each person to develop effective strategies to help achieve emotional wellness by learning new ways to cope with stress, anxiety, depression and other behavioral health symptoms. The PHP is a flexible treatment option for patients who need a gradual transition from an inpatient stay or a more structured program without inpatient treatment.
"Grand Strand Health is excited to be the first in the area to offer this program to our community, which provides even more options for patients to receive care in an outpatient setting," says Behavioral Health Medical Director Christina Lynn, MD. "We want to identify adults before they're in crisis or in the emergency room, which means their healthcare provider can directly refer or adults can enroll themselves in the PHP. A patient's response to treatment is better when he or she has the convenience of remaining at home with loved ones in the evening."
All groups and sessions are focused on treating situational stressors and helping to facilitate recovery. Combinations of group therapy, individual therapies and closely monitored medication management have been validated by research to be one of the most effective forms of treatment for behavioral health illness.
The Partial Hospitalization Program is located at South Strand Medical Center - 5050 Hwy 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
