Myrtle Beach, SC (Monday, August 22, 2016) - Kandi Valentine, MSN, BA, RN, has been named Director of Pediatrics at Grand Strand Medical Center. Kandi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio State University and her Associates degree in Nursing from Columbus State College. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Kandi then received her Master of Science degree in Nursing Administration from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, IL.

Kandi is a seasoned nurse leader with 20 years of pediatric experience. Prior to Grand Strand Medical Center, Kandi was the Program Manager of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and Administrative Clinical Manager in the Emergency Room at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. Kandi joins our team with the only pediatric intensive care physicians in the area: David Rosenberg, MD, and Asfawossen Asfaw, MD, who collectively have more than 40 years of experience in pediatrics. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Inpatient Unit have specialty-trained pediatric nurses available to care for young patients from birth to 18 years of age. Our Family Centered Care promotes optimal recovery and includes all-private rooms and an area for a family member to stay with the child 24/7 along with individualized treatment plans designed to meet the unique needs of each patient.
