Myrtle Beach —Grand Strand Health will host a Baby & Children's Health Fair on Saturday, October 28 from 11am - 2pm at HealthFindersinside Coastal Grand Mall.
The health system invites those who are thinking about having a baby, pregnant, have children or are grandparents to meet team members with Grand Strand Health's maternity, pediatric and nutrition departments, physician practices and local community organizations. "The benefit to parents and those who are interested in having a baby is the wealth of information they will receive," states Pediatric Director Kandi Valentine, RN. "They can ask questions to our team members and physicians while their children are having fun trick-or-treating with us."
Booths at the health fair will include infant care, infant safety, medication safety, breastfeeding, nutrition, safe sleeping for infants, sun and water safety, child life, bike safety, poison control and gun safety. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to the Pediatric ER booth for a "check-up" by Dr. Rebecca Matthews, Pediatric Emergency Medical Director for Grand Strand Health. This helps make any future ER visits more comfortable and less scary for children by allowing them to experience the "check-up" through the eyes of their fuzzy friend.
A costume contest will be held during the fair at 12:30pm. Entry forms will be provided the day of the health fair and are required to participate. There will also be face painting and appearances from a superhero, prince and princesses. For more information, visit MyGrandStrandHealth.com/HalloweenFair or call 843-839-9933.
