Myrtle Beach, SC (December 1, 2015) – Grand Strand Health will sponsor classes in December about diabetes, self-defense and advanced directives. A LifePoint candlelight ceremony will also be held. All events are held at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall, beside Dillard’s.
On Tuesday, December 8 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm a LifePoint Candlelight Ceremony will take place. This event honors organ and tissue donors. Donors and recipients are welcome to attend and share their stories. Candles will be lit in remembrance of the donors.
A two-day Diabetes Education Class will be offered on Thursday, December 10 & Thursday, December 17 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The classes focus on controlling blood glucose through good nutrition, moderate activity, glucose monitoring and stress management. There is a fee of $40. Registration is required.
On Thursday, December 10 from 6:00 – 8:00pm a Self-Defense Class will be held. A certified self-defense instructor will demonstrate ways to avoid attackers. How to react to an attack and be aware of your surroundings will also be discussed. Participants should wear workout clothes and tennis shoes for this free class. Registration is required.
It’s time to begin the conversation about your end of life care. Begin the Conversation - Advanced Care Directives is the topic on Wednesday, December 16 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. A hospice representative will help you begin the conversation about your end of life care choices. The Living Will and the Healthcare Power of Attorney will be discussed and provided.
