PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
Grand Strand Health’s Mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
Program Purpose: Our PGY1 residency program serves as a crucial bridge between academic education and professional practice. Residents are immersed in direct patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and effective communication in order to refine clinical judgment and enhance problem-solving skills. Residents are exposed to drug safety, practice management, and quality improvement initiatives. By the end of the year, residents are equipped with the competence and confidence to pursue a PGY2 residency, board certification, or step into clinical practice.
About Grand Strand Medical Center
Grand Strand Health encompasses a 403-bed acute care hospital, Grand Strand Medical Center (GSMC), along with three freestanding emergency room facilities and a range of outpatient medical services, including behavioral health, advanced wound care, imaging, and laboratory services. The health system also includes six CareNow Urgent Care centers and numerous affiliated physician practices offering comprehensive care in specialties such as heart and vascular care, spine and neurological care, general and specialized surgical care, orthopedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, bariatrics, and primary care.
Grand Strand Medical Center excels in emergency and trauma care, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, and robotic surgery. It is the only provider of cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and pediatric intensive care (PICU) in Horry and Georgetown counties. The hospital houses South Carolina’s busiest trauma center, designated as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. It is also the region’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center, certified by DNV-GL.
The hospital has earned recognition from The Joint Commission for excellence in programs such as chest pain, knee and hip replacement, sepsis, and stroke rehabilitation. For three consecutive years (2022–2024), Grand Strand Medical Center has been named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades. Additionally, in 2024, the hospital received the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.

Hanna Condrey, PharmD
PGY1 Pharmacy Resident
Dr. Condrey earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include infectious diseases, internal medicine, and teaching. Dr. Condrey’s medication use evaluation focuses on optimizing the use of meropenem, with an emphasis on timely de-escalation following culture results. Additionally, her research explores the efficacy and safety of high-dose versus low-dose systemic corticosteroids in managing acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in non-critically ill patients. Upon completion of her residency, she aims to pursue a position as a clinical pharmacist with a goal to enhance antimicrobial stewardship activities and services.

Clinical Pharmacy Manager
PGY1 Residency Program Director
Research and Quality Improvement / Critical Care / OrientationDr. Jordan is the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director at GSMC. After earning her Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology at the College of Charleston and Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), she served in the Public Health Service/Indian Health Service in Chinle, Arizona. Dr. Jordan later returned to MUSC to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She then pursued advanced training, completing a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center followed by a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency in the University of Arizona Medical Center. Before assuming her current role as Clinical Pharmacy Manager at GSMC, Dr. Jordan played a key role in establishing several critical care rounding services and practiced much of her career in the Surgical Trauma ICU. She is board certified in Critical Care (BCCCP), Nutrition Support (BCNSP), and Pharmacotherapy (BCPS). Dr. Jordan is actively involved in leadership positions, serving as the co-chair of both the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Her professional interests include nutrition support, traumatic brain injuries, and quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing patient care.

Lauren Shelton Roper, PharmD, BCPS
Clinical Operations Manager
PGY1 Residency Program Coordinator
Inpatient Psychiatry / Critical Care / OrientationDr. Roper is the Residency Program Coordinator and Clinical Operations Manager with clinical practices in the Medical ICU and the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. Dr. Roper completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy in Charleston, West Virginia. She went on to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. Since joining the team, Dr. Roper has established pharmacy services at the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and leads our Medication Safety Program. She serves on multiple committees including Stroke, Critical Care, and Patient Safety. Her interest areas include neuropsychiatric disorders, delirium and agitation in the ICU, and stroke management.

Josh Momper, PharmD, MBA
Director of Pharmacy Services
Pharmacy AdministrationDr. Momper earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Capella University. He began his professional career at Walgreens, where he took on various leadership roles. Dr. Momper transitioned to HCA Healthcare in 2019, piloting a pharmacy-led medication reconciliation program at GSMC. The pilot was extremely successful and the program has since been adopted across the HCA enterprise. Dr. Momper later moved into the Operations Pharmacy Manager role and shortly thereafter was promoted to Pharmacy Director. In this capacity, he has spearheaded numerous innovative initiatives, leveraging advanced technology and process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and patient safety. Under his leadership, the Pharmacy Department has gained recognition as a top performer both locally and nationally within the HCA organization, excelling in both operational and clinical outcomes.

Kaitlin Jones, PharmD
Medication Reconciliation Supervisor
Transitions of CareDr. Jones, is a clinical pharmacist specializing in Transitions of Care, with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. Her professional focus includes patient safety and medication reconciliation during hospital admissions, where she works to reduce medication errors and improve patient outcomes. Dr. Jones has also played an integral role as a COVID-19 vaccinator, an experience she found both rewarding and impactful. She is actively involved in the hospital’s Patient Safety Committee, contributing to initiatives that enhance overall care quality and patient well-being. With a strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery, Dr. Jones continues to advocate for safer, more efficient care transitions and better patient safety practices.

Heather Beilhart, PharmD
Medication Reconciliation
Transitions of CareDr. Beilhart earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the West Virginia University. As a clinical pharmacist on the medication reconciliation team, she is passionate about the discharge process, ensuring that patients transition safely and effectively from hospital to home. Her work emphasizes optimizing medication regimens, preventing errors, and enhancing patient outcomes during this critical phase of care. Dr. Beilhart also serves as a Pharmacist Student Rotation Coordinator, where she oversees experiential learning opportunities for pharmacy students. Additionally, she is an active member of the Patient Safety Committee, contributing to initiatives that improve care quality and reduce risks for patients. Known for her compassionate approach, Dr. Beilhart values building meaningful relationships with patients and is a dedicated advocate for addressing their unique medication needs. Her commitment to patient-centered care highlights her impact in advancing healthcare outcomes and the pharmacy profession.

Lexi Chlada, PharmD, BCPS
Emergency MedicineDr. Chlada earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She went on to complete a PGY1 Acute Care residency at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Her interests include emergency medicine, infectious diseases, and pre-hospital medicine. Dr. Chlada has a passion for precepting all levels of learners and furthering pharmacist contribution in various areas of critical care and emergency medicine. In addition to precepting students, Dr. Chlada leads the efforts of pharmacist participation in code response and serves as the liaison for simulation lab training alongside the medical residents. She also assists in providing pharmacy clinical education to the emergency medicine medical residents and providers. Dr. Chlada's future goals include obtaining a specialty certification, Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacist (BCEMP), as well as designing and implementing an emergency medicine pharmacist program for other hospitals.

Gabby Harmon, PharmD
Internal Medicine / Operational Pharmacy / OrientationDr. Harmon is a clinical pharmacist originally from Columbiana, AL. She earned her undergraduate degree in microbiology from Mississippi State University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Auburn University. Following her education, she completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. She currently practices in both internal medicine and central pharmacy. Her professional interests include sterile products and compounding, with a particular focus on USP 797 and USP 800 standards, as well as insulin management. Dr. Harmon is also dedicated to enhancing pharmacy operations, with a keen interest in workflow optimization in the IV room. To further strengthen her skills in this specialized field, Dr. Harmon is working toward obtaining her BCSCP, Board Certification in Sterile Compounding Pharmacist.

Abbey Bensing, PharmD
Internal Medicine / Palliative Care ManagementDr. Bensing earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. She currently works as a clinical pharmacist with the Internal Medicine teams and provides cross-coverage in multiple intensive care units. With a strong interest in pain management, Dr. Bensing focuses on naloxone utilization and educating healthcare providers on the complexities of pain management. She is actively involved in quality improvement initiatives related to opioid prescribing and establishing pharmacist participation in palliative care rounds. Dr. Bensing is also working toward establishing a formal pain management service within the hospital. To further enhance her expertise, she is in the process of obtaining her ASHP Pain Management Certificate and plans to attend a pain management continuing education conference in the coming year.

Darla Eckley, PharmD, BCPS
PediatricsDr. Eckley earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of South Dakota and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy. As the Pediatric and Neonatal ICU pharmacist, she has made significant contributions to improving patient care, with a strong focus on pediatric medication safety. She has served on the Pediatric Quality and Perinatal Committees, where she has been instrumental in developing and refining protocols, clinical guidelines, and drug standardizations, particularly for pediatric concentrations. Dr. Eckley has also played a key role in updating smart pump programming and revising order sets to ensure the safe administration of medications in vulnerable patient populations. Additionally, she holds her Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS).

Chris Rudd, PharmD, FCCP, FASHP, BCPS
PediatricsDr. Rudd earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina and has built an extensive career in pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP), and holds a Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS). Recognized for her excellence, Dr. Rudd has received multiple Continuing Excellence Awards and has served as past president and on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Society of Hospital Pharmacists. In addition to her clinical expertise, she has presented nationally and internationally on pediatric topics and has been a dedicated educator and preceptor, mentoring students and residents. Her contributions have made her an invaluable resource to the pharmacy team as she continues to advance both patient care and the profession.

Justis Keys, PharmD
Pharmacy Operations Manager
Operational Pharmacy / Pharmacy AdministrationDr. Keys is the Pharmacy Operations Manager, where he oversees pharmacy technicians and support the management team. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and has since developed a strong background in optimizing pharmacy operations to enhance patient care within the hospital and across the South Atlantic Division of HCA. Dr. Keys focuses on ensuring compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards, as well as supervising the technician onboarding and training processes. In his role, he also serves as the department’s Hazardous Drug Coordinator and contributes to several key committees, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Medication Error Review, and the Hospital Resource Management Council. Looking ahead, Dr. Keys plans to further expand his expertise by pursuing board certifications in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) and Pharmacotherapy (BCPS).
